Fashions for August 1833

Monday, August 5, 2013

Loretta reports:

Archery dress, like riding dress, appears only infrequently in the fashion magazines.  The last archery dress I showed was here.

A couple of years later, the color, once again, is green, but the style is a little different, and the later head wear, I think, rather dashing.

As to the evening and opera dresses—I would love to see the real thing.  The lace must have been magnificent.

The droopy shoulders from the 1830s are so romantic. But goodness, they must have made it hard to use a bow and arrow.
